If then this is the case - why then continuous ministry to the "Born Again" Believer in the World of Charismatic "Churches" heavily influenced by Roman Catholicism. Jesuit Extreme Oath of Induction

The following is the Jesuit Extreme Oath of Induction given to high ranking Jesuits only. This oath is taken from the book Subterranean Rome by Carlos Didier, translated from the French, and published in New York in 1843.

"When a Jesuit of the minor rank is to be elevated to command, he is conducted into the Chapel of the Convent of the Order, where there are only three others present, the principal or Superior standing in front of the altar. On either side stands a monk, one of whom holds a banner of yellow and white, which are the Papal colors, and the other a black banner with a dagger and red cross above a skull and crossbones, with the word INRI, and below them the words IUSTUM, NECAR, REGES, IMPIOUS. The meaning of which is: It is just to exterminate or annihilate impious or heretical Kings, Governments, or Rulers. Upon the floor is a red cross at which the postulant or candidate kneels. The Superior hands him a small black crucifix, which he takes in his left hand and presses to his heart, and the Superior at the same time presents to him a dagger, which he grasps by the blade and holds the point against his heart, the Superior still holding it by the hilt, and thus addresses the postulant:"

Superior:

My son, heretofore you have been taught to act the dissembler: among Roman Catholics to be a Roman Catholic, and to be a spy even among your own brethren; to believe no man, to trust no man. Among the Reformers, to be a reformer; among the Huguenots, to be a Huguenot; among the Calvinists, to be a Calvinist; among other Protestants, generally to be a Protestant, and obtaining their confidence, to seek even to preach from their pulpits, and to denounce with all the vehemence in your nature our Holy Religion and the Pope; and even to descend so low as to become a Jew among Jews, that you might be enabled to gather together all information for the benefit of your Order as a faithful soldier of the Pope.

You have been taught to insidiously plant the seeds of jealousy and hatred between communities, provinces, states that were at peace, and incite them to deeds of blood, involving them in war with each other, and to create revolutions and civil wars in countries that were independent and prosperous, cultivating the arts and the sciences and enjoying the blessings of peace. To take sides with the combatants and to act secretly with your brother Jesuit, who might be engaged on the other side, but openly opposed to that with which you might be connected, only that the Church might be the gainer in the end, in the conditions fixed in the treaties for peace and that the end justifies the means.

You have been taught your duty as a spy, to gather all statistics, facts and information in your power from every source; to ingratiate yourself into the confidence of the family circle of Protestants and heretics of every class and character, as well as that of the merchant, the banker, the lawyer, among the schools and universities, in parliaments and legislatures, and the judiciaries and councils of state, and to be all things to all men, for the Pope's sake, whose servants we are unto death.

You have received all your instructions heretofore as a novice, a neophyte, and have served as co-adjurer, confessor and priest, but you have not yet been invested with all that is necessary to command in the Army of Loyola in the service of the Pope. You must serve the proper time as the instrument and executioner as directed by your superiors; for none can command here who has not consecrated his labors with the blood of the heretic; for "without the shedding of blood no man can be saved." Therefore, to fit yourself for your work and make your own salvation sure, you will, in addition to your former oath of obedience to your order and allegiance to the Pope, repeat after me---

The Extreme Oath of the Jesuits:

"1, _ now, in the presence of Almighty God, the Blessed Virgin Mary, the blessed Michael the Archangel, the blessed St. John the Baptist, the holy Apostles St. Peter and St. Paul and all the saints and sacred hosts of heaven, and to you, my ghostly father, the Superior General of the Society of Jesus, founded by St. Ignatius Loyola in the Pontificate of Paul the Third, and continued to the present, do by the womb of the virgin, the matrix of God, and the rod of Jesus Christ, declare and swear, that his holiness the Pope is Christ's Vice-regent and is the true and only head of the Catholic or Universal Church throughout the earth; and that by virtue of the keys of binding and loosing, given to his Holiness by my Savior, Jesus Christ, he hath power to depose heretical kings, princes, states, commonwealths and governments, all being illegal without his sacred confirmation and that they may safely be destroyed. Therefore, to the utmost of my power I shall and will defend this doctrine of his Holiness' right and custom against all usurpers of the heretical or Protestant authority whatever, especially the Lutheran of Germany, Holland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and the now pretended authority and churches of England and Scotland, and branches of the same now established in Ireland and on the Continent of America and elsewhere; and all adherents in regard that they be usurped and heretical, opposing the sacred Mother Church of Rome. I do now renounce and disown any allegiance as due to any heretical king, prince or state named Protestants or Liberals, or obedience to any of the laws, magistrates or officers.

I do further declare that the doctrine of the churches of England and Scotland, of the Calvinists, Huguenots and others of the name Protestants or Liberals to be damnable and they themselves damned who will not forsake the same.

I do further declare, that I will help, assist, and advise all or any of his Holiness' agents in any place wherever I shall be, in Switzerland, Germany, Holland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, England, Ireland or America, or in any other Kingdom or territory I shall come to, and do my uttermost to extirpate the heretical Protestants or Liberals' doctrines and to destroy all their pretended powers, regal or otherwise.

I do further promise and declare, that notwithstanding I am dispensed with, to assume my religion heretical, for the propaganda of the Mother Church's interest, to keep secret and private all her agents' counsels from time to time, as they may entrust me and not to divulge, directly or indirectly, by word, writing or circumstance whatever; but to execute all that shall be proposed, given in charge or discovered unto me, by you, my ghostly father, or any of this sacred covenant.

I do further promise and declare, that I will have no opinion or will of my own, or any mental reservation whatever, even as a corpse or cadaver (perinde ac cadaver), but will unhesitatingly obey each and every command that I may receive from my superiors in the Militia of the Pope and of Jesus Christ.

That I may go to any part of the world withersoever I may be sent, to the frozen regions of the North, the burning sands of the desert of Africa, or the jungles of India, to the centers of civilization of Europe, or to the wild haunts of the barbarous savages of America, without murmuring or repining, and will be submissive in all things whatsoever communicated to me.

I furthermore promise and declare that I will, when opportunity present, make and wage relentless war, secretly or openly, against all heretics, Protestants and Liberals, as I am directed to do, to extirpate and exterminate them from the face of the whole earth; and that I will spare neither age, sex or condition; and that I will hang, waste, boil, flay, strangle and bury alive these infamous heretics, rip up the stomachs and wombs of their women and crush their infants' heads against the walls, in order to annihilate forever their execrable race. That when the same cannot be done openly, I will secretly use the poisoned cup, the strangulating cord, the steel of the poniard or the leaden bullet, regardless of the honor, rank, dignity, or authority of the person or persons, whatever may be their condition in life, either public or private, as I at any time may be directed so to do by any agent of the Pope or Superior of the Brotherhood of the Holy Faith, of the Society of Jesus.

In confirmation of which, I hereby dedicate my life, my soul and all my corporal powers, and with this dagger which I now receive, I will subscribe my name written in my own blood, in testimony thereof; and should I prove false or weaken in my determination, may my brethren and fellow soldiers of the Militia of the Pope cut off my hands and my feet, and my throat from ear to ear, my belly opened and sulphur burned therein, with all the punishment that can be inflicted upon me on earth and my soul be tortured by demons in an eternal hell forever!

All of which, I, _, do swear by the Blessed Trinity and blessed Sacraments, which I am now to receive, to perform and on my part to keep inviolable; and do call all the heavenly and glorious host of heaven to witness the blessed Sacrament of the Eucharist, and witness the same further with my name written and with the point of this dagger dipped in my own blood and sealed in the face of this holy covenant."

(He receives the wafer from the Superior and writes his name with the point of his dagger dipped in his own blood taken from over his heart.)

Superior:

"You will now rise to your feet and I will instruct you in the Catechism necessary to make yourself known to any member of the Society of Jesus belonging to this rank.

In the first place, you, as a Brother Jesuit, will with another mutually make the ordinary sign of the cross as any ordinary Roman Catholic would; then one cross his wrists, the palms of his hands open, and the other in answer crosses his feet, one above the other; the first points with forefinger of the right hand to the center of the palm of the left, the other with the forefinger of the left hand points to the center of the palm of the right; the first then with his right hand makes a circle around his head, touching it; the other then with the forefinger of his left hand touches the left side of his body just below his heart; the first then with his right hand draws it across the throat of the other, and the latter then with a dagger down the stomach and abdomen of the first. The first then says Iustum; and the other answers Necar; the first Reges. The other answers Impious." (The meaning of which has already been explained.) "The first will then present a small piece of paper folded in a peculiar manner, four times, which the other will cut longitudinally and on opening the name Jesu will be found written upon the head and arms of a cross three times. You will then give and receive with him the following questions and answers:

Question —From whither do you come? Answer — The Holy faith.

Q. —Whom do you serve?

A. —The Holy Father at Rome, the Pope, and the Roman Catholic Church Universal throughout the world.

Q. —Who commands you?

A. —The Successor of St. Ignatius Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus or the Soldiers of Jesus Christ.

Q. —Who received you? A. —A venerable man in white hair.

Q. —How?

A. —With a naked dagger, I kneeling upon the cross beneath the banners of the Pope and of our sacred order.

Q. —Did you take an oath?

A. —I did, to destroy heretics and their governments and rulers, and to spare neither age, sex nor condition. To be as a corpse without any opinion or will of my own, but to implicitly obey my Superiors in all things without hesitation of murmuring.

Q. —Will you do that? A. —I will.

Q. —How do you travel? A. —In the bark of Peter the fisherman.

Q. —Whither do you travel? A. —To the four quarters of the globe. Q. —For what purpose?

A. —To obey the orders of my general and Superiors and execute the will of the Pope and faithfully fulfill the conditions of my oaths.

Q. —Go ye, then, into all the world and take possession of all lands in the name of the Pope. He who will not accept him as the Vicar of Jesus and his Vice-regent on earth, let him be accursed and exterminated."

Dr. Alberto Rivera escaped from the Jesuit Order in 1967, and he describes his Jesuit oath in exactly the same way as it appears in this book. Semper idem: always the same.

28 06 17 THE ERISKAY IDOL EXPOSED THROUGH INTERCESSION

On the site of the former RC "Church" in Eriskay is the idol of the Marian Cult, exposed on a formerly isolated island, that is now linked to South Uist by causeway and to Barra by a regular ferry.

This idolatrous figure has an intimation beneath it linking it to an incident at Fatima where apparently the virgin Mary called for penance for the sins of modern man, a concept inconsistent with scripture which declares that Jesus took upon himself the sins of mankind, and that there is only one mediator between God and Man - CHRIST JESUS HIMSELF.

This intercession brought the conditions for the realization on this island and beyond of the pagan root of this Marian heresy. It is also noted the island's link to the SS Politician that was shipwrecked just off the shore, enabling islanders to bring ashore illicit whisky.

An intercession through Brian Mason by the ruined Benedictine abbey of Whitby.

It was here in Whitby that Rome again came to control bringing into forces its dates for Easter rather than the dates of the Celts. Also the monastic structures of Rome were enforced rather than those of Iona - all this in the Synod of Whitby.

Likewise today, our laws and Christian Constitution are no longer allowed to be enforced, for they have been forced under the Treaty of Rome. Romanism continues to infiltrate and control whilst this intercession brings the darkness into the light!

JIMMY SAVILE & PETER SUTCLIFFE INTERCESSION

Intercession through Brian Mason right before the old flat of Jimmy Savile situated in Roundhay Park, Leeds.

In this very park took place two of the attacks on prostitutes by the Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe, one being fatal on Irene Richardson. Both Savile and Sutcliffe, both Roman Catholics have been guilty of possibly the greatest crimes in Britain of the twentieth century.

Their Roman Catholic faith did not lead them to love their neighbours but rather to abuse, kill and destroy, the hallmarks of Satanism, both knowing each other well, Sutcliffe being reported to say that it was God who led him to bludgeon prostitutes to death.

Knighted by both the Queen and the Pope, Savile became the UK Charity Fundraiser of the century for many charities but good works are not the way for man to be saved. Having a depiction of the crucified Christ is also not the way to salvation but heart felt repentance of sin - seemingly absent from the lives of Savile and Sutcliffe.

The intercession therefore is to bring out the era of the protection of the criminal for undoubtedly for many years Savile was protected, indeed Sutcliffe had been interviewed many times before being caught. This is in contrast to those being led of the Spirit of God, uncompromising ministries who are targeted by the state for upholding the Christian Constitution of the land, for this has become the time of the criminalization of the righteous after the time of protecting the criminal.

This intercession reverses the flow.

“You see today the format of something that has never really died: the Roman Empire. “Time after time, this evil power has gained the apparent upper hand through power, power given to it by the angel of light, Lucifer – that is, the devil masquerading as the angel of light – hence the ‘sun’ of gold, the fleshly sun of the lusts of the flesh, which ‘shines’ everywhere in Roman Catholicism.

“Yes, David is right: Mithras is that same root, & the worship of ‘Mithraism,’ with so many Roman soldiers taking part, is of that same ‘sun,’ the angel of light, Lucifer. “What is Japan, but the land of the rising SUN? Hence the Japanese fascination with the Temple of Mithras in London. “

Many other forms have been taken which copy Rome: the eagle of Jupiter, the domination by power & violence. Mussolini, Hitler, Napoleon, all resurrected that Roman spirit. “But these secular governments with their armies are nothingcompared to that called Roman Catholicism – not at all Christian, but actually a pseudo-religious, power-hungry, devouring monolithic monster. I showed him the harlot of the seven hills, in all her true colours, drunk with the blood of the saints, My martyrs now in glory. “’I came, I saw, I conquered,’ wrote the arch-Roman, Gaius Julius Caesar. ‘They create a desert, & call it peace,’ said Calgacus the Celtic freedom fighter, through the Roman author Tacitus. ‘Convert, or die!’ cried the Jesuits, the brutal military arm of Roman Catholicism. “But they change their colours, & their Bibles constantly.

Now they have changed again, to survive & hold power in ‘kid gloves.’ Everyone is loved, everyone has hope of salvation, smiles this present Pope – an iron fist hidden behind those kid gloves. “Then we had the Crusades. Self-righteousness, self-will, vanity of the Papal throne, led thousands, nay millions, to their deaths: Muslim, Christian & Jew.

Lust for treasures, earthly gold, consumed many, who fell victim to the wiles of the Beast. Vices abounded, blood upon blood was shed. My holy city, Jerusalem, became again a place of death. Destroyed by the Romans in their Empire, again destroyed by the new Roman Empire – the ‘Catholic Church.’ “Constantine knew Rome’s end was near. By the 4. Century, it was in full decay. So it split into a two-headed monster: Rome of the seven hills, & Byzantium of the seven hills. A former Greek colony metamorphosed into Constantinople, named after the emperor of change.

The dark, scheming plots of Rome were succeeded by even darker, cunning deeds of the Emperors of the East based in that city. The filth & decadence was covered by the foul incense of an unholy religion, masquerading as My Church. “Yet, no true Roman Catholic ever calls themselves ‘Christian,’ but ‘Catholic.’ Because their desire is as it always has been, to conquer the universe. ‘I will be like the Most High!’ is their cry, & one on earth personifies this, known as the Pope – or Holy Father. “The ‘holy see’ is the all-seeing eye of Egypt. For why else does the Vatican contain the treasures of Egypt?

Darkness & light cannot mix together in the Spirit, but they mix them together all the time, as with the black & white squares of Freemasonry. For the worship of the physical pervades this refuge of the Roman Empire. “The fascination with My suffering body is perverted into crucifixes, Mass, & the ‘Pietas’ of the false Mary holding the body of her ‘Son.’ Pagan blasphemies & perversions abound. Once & for all sacrifice, as portrayed in My Word (Hebrews etc.) is not even considered. Perpetual pain & suffering is.

‘When in Rome, do as the Romans do,’ has a new meaning in this so-called ‘Church.’ “The race against time is on – to get as many souls into the yawning, devouring jaws of this ‘kingdom’ before I come again to judge the quick & the dead. “’Behold, I am coming quickly,’ saith the Lord. The devices & schemes of the harlot of Rome will come to nothing. The jaws of Satan devour all they can. False Bibles, the work of the Illuminati (so-called ‘enlightened ones’, who worship the angel of light) abound, deceiving even some of My saints.

The instability of the Charismatic movement has reached into almost every movement, even of My formerly true Church. The web of intrigue is Satan’s master-plan through Rome: to build another Empire based on blood of the martyrs, & dead men’s bones. Yes! Like the Pharisees, these whited sepulchres of false piety are full of dead men’s bones.

“Like previous worshippers of Baal in the Old Testament, they target innocent children especially, prostituting them on their altars to Baal – altar-boys, & girls, orphans, the unprotected. They prey on them all, & keep it a dark secret, under their false robes of false holiness. Everything is occultic – i.e. covered up, kept in the darkness. “My light will pierce, & is already piercing, the darkness. John Knox was My prophet in Scotland, who put the darkness to light through the dawning, glorious light of My Reformation & restitution. New forces have come to denigrate this move of God, & cast it out. Nothing, nothing, nothing can stand against My true saints & martyrs’ blood, & survive.

“Be not afraid: I am the Lord, & I am not to be mocked or put aside for other gods; false gods of freemasonry & idolatry of false religions – all will fall & be crushed to pieces, just as I showed My prophet Daniel in My Word. “Nothing can intimidate My saints, the partakers of My inheritance of glorious light. ‘Endless is the victory I o’er death have won,’ in the words of the hymn-writer.

Thou hast understood this since thy wedding day, when under My guidance, thou chose this hymn to step out into the whole world in My power. After so many years of My training in obscurity, thou art the true ‘emerging Church’ – My Church, emerging from the caves & backside of deserts, from obscurity into My glorious army of the saints of light.

Judges chapter 16 verse 20

“And he wist not that that the LORD was departed from him” (Judges 16:20)

We could say poor Samson for the once oak of the forest had fallen and he is unconscious that there has been a radical change in his life.

Delilah had cried out in her joy for the Philistines to capture Samson. Samson had poured out his heart to this worldling called Delilah. “Then went Samson to Gaza, and saw there a harlot, and went in unto her.” (Judges 16:1) This was no place for a man of God to go.

After placing himself in great danger we find this harlot, Delilah asking Samson “Tell me, I pray thee, wherein thy great strength lieth” (Judges 16:6)

Samson compromised his faith and special calling from God. Samson’s secret had been stolen by Delilah. In doing this the covenant between Samson and God had been broken.

There is a clear warning here for both the individual Christian and the Church. Both are instructed to “come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord” (2 Corinthians 6:17) The Christian life is Christ in us. When He is our life then the world should have no attraction for us. Let us always keep before us that our true position is in Christ.

The Church today apart from the remnant of true believers is the church of compromise. The false church has long opened its doors to the world and gone after the things of the world. The harlot in this case is the Roman Catholic Church which has permeated itself through most of what is called Christianity today.

In doing so like Samson what is now the false church has lost all credibility with God and no longer has the presence or the power of God.

I attended Holy Trinity Brompton for the first ten years of my Christian life. I believe it is where the Lord intended me to be, but I realise now that was in spite of the doctrinal errors that had crept in even then. For example while I was there I met a couple who taught me about the reality and eternity of hell, and from others I learned the importance of abiding in Christ.

I must also acknowledge that when I became a Christian at Durham University it was Nicky Lee, then a theological student and now the Associate Minister at Holy Trinity Brompton (HTB), who was instrumental in helping me take my first faltering steps as a Christian. Indeed, had Nicky not stood behind me when I responded to a call to come to the front of the mission meeting I attended on 14th February 1984, I may never have started out on the Christian life at all. The time and trouble he and his wife Sila took over me is something I will not forget, although I fear for them now.

When I became a Christian, HTB was presented as the church where God was really at work and I couldn’t wait to get there to find out for myself. What set HTB apart from the other evangelical churches I knew, was that the gifts of the Holy Spirit were openly taught and acknowledged. I attended my first Alpha Course in, I think 1988, and after that about 4 more. It was in 1989 that I made HTB my home church which I attended whenever I was in England; although there were frequent breaks since up until 1993 I was frequently stationed abroad with the Army. However, three aspects of the Alpha Course troubled me; the absence of any emphasis on repentance and the lack of teaching about hell: I recall on one occasion being invited to see Nicky Gumbel at his home to discuss his views on hell.

DOCTRINAL ERROR 1: ANNIHILATIONISM - COMPLETELY CONTRARY TO SCRIPTURE

10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

He sought to persuade me that hell was a place of annihilation following judgment and not a place of eternal conscious torment. I could not agree with him. Finally, Nicky failed to distinguish between the Gospel that was taught on the Alpha Course from the Gospel taught by Rome, claiming that what we had in common (the Creed) was far greater than what separated us (that the Bible is our final authority and salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone as opposed to salvation through works).

These weaknesses almost certainly stemmed from Nicky Gumbel’s aim (that was well known at HTB at the time) to repackage the Gospel to make it more appealing to today’s generation. Within Anglicanism there was undoubtedly an element of empty formality that needed challenging, but not by changing the goal posts of fundamental Gospel truth.

In July 1994 I left a prayer meeting at HTB, thinking to myself that I could never imagine being at another church because I was so happy there. However, the wind that was to sweep me from HTB had already started blowing in May of that year with the visit of Ellie Mumford to HTB to bring the so-called ‘Toronto Blessing.’ I was not at that service, but instead at the earlier communion service where I found myself weeping, although I could not explain why. Events, I believe, were to reveal the reason. After the next service the Toronto Experience dominated everything that was done for months to come, and I regret to say that I was caught up in the whirlwind. By August, I was beginning to have my doubts about Toronto.

DOCTRINAL ERROR 2: THE TORONTO BLESSING- COMPLETELY CONTRARY TO SCRIPTURE and linked to Romanism, The Kansas City Prophets, The International Coalition of Apostles and Fuller Seminary

One of my friends had gone out to Toronto and hadn’t stopped shaking since her return, to such an extent, that six weeks later she suffered a tear in the bowel which she put down to her shaking. Another friend who was helping with the children’s work had to be restrained from exhibiting extravagant gesticulations in front of the children and one of the Conference speakers, who had been in the military, had developed involuntary muscular twitches which he exhibited as he spoke. I did not want to go the same way myself. As a result of the counsel of a friend, now with the Lord, and further teaching at a prayer and Bible week at the end of August, I became convinced that the Toronto experience was not Biblical, but instead, came from another spirit just as Paul warned in 2 Corinthians 11:1-4. Returning to HTB, I felt like a complete stranger and knew I could no longer continue there.

The following weekend I attended a Day of Prayer for the Nation held at Stroud Green Christian Assembly in Finsbury Park. I discovered that the Pastor’s son in law was a lecturer at the Inns of Court School of Law which I was about to attend, and I was keen to meet him. It was arranged that I would go to the service and meet him for lunch. As soon as I arrived at the service, I knew I had come home spiritually. The worship was simple and heartfelt, and the sermon contained insights from God’s Word that greatly inspired me.

The next morning, as I pondered my situation, my daily Bible reading was from Ezekiel 12 about Ezekiel being told to separate himself from the rebellious house of Israel as a sign to them. It suddenly came to me that this was what I should do in relation to HTB. I therefore wrote to the minister, Sandy Millar, and later went to see him. At the end of our conversation he asked me to pray for the church and straight into my mind came the words, “Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today and forever” – Hebrews 13:8. Therefore I prayed that HTB would be faithful to that same Jesus. When I returned home I looked up the verse and was amazed to read the verse that followed from this great statement of the unchanging nature of the Lord Jesus: “Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines.” (Hebrews 13:9)

HTB has changed a lot since I left in 1994 and the Alpha Course has taken off worldwide. Sadly the problems of the early 1990s have never been rectified and the fruit of the Toronto Experience has been an increasing lack of discernment and willingness to accept false teachers.

Raniero Cantalamessa – The Pope’s Preacher

This year at the church’s annual week away at an event called Focus, the line-up of speakers includes Raniero Cantalamessa, Papal preacher at the Vatican, who, in 2007 actually preached salvation through baptism from the pulpit at HTB. I refer back to the Article I wrote in CETF 42 where I drew attention to this extract of his first sermon: “He found us in sin – lost. Through Christ, His Death and resurrection he saved us. Through the baptism he inserted us into salvation.”

DOCTRINAL ERROR 3: BAPTISMAL REGENERATION - COMPLETELY CONTRARY TO SCRIPTURE

5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

We should not be surprised that this is what Raniero Cantalemessa teaches because this is classic Roman Catholic dogma contained in the Catechism of the Roman Catholic Church at paragraph 1212:-“Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water and in the word.”

However, this is not the Gospel. The irony is this: when Nicky Lee explained the Gospel to me on 14th February 1984 it was the following verses that opened my eyes: “For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)

It was the first time that I understood that salvation was not earned but is a gift. However, if salvation only starts at baptism, then salvation is not through grace, it is through the work of being baptised, and my faith in Christ’s death becomes but one aspect of salvation and not the whole. Paul warns us about such a doctrine of works in Galatians where, instead of making baptism a requirement for salvation like Roman Catholicism, the Judaisers had made circumcision a requirement instead but the effect is the same: it becomes another Gospel which is no Gospel at all. We are told to, “Beware false prophets” (Matthew 7:15). We cannot join in evangelism with them, let alone allow them to preach to the Lord’s sheep which he has “purchased with His own blood.” (Acts 20:28)

Brian Houston – Senior Pastor of Hillsong, Sydney

Given HTB’s failure to emphasise repentance and its desire to appear relevant to the young, it is not surprising that they should team up with Brian Houston of Hillsong, who is a guest speaker at Focus in 2012. As a fellow Pentecostal it is a great sadness to me that I am unable to support this man’s ministry. It has had an almost viral impact upon congregations in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, France, Ukraine, the US and South Africa. Hillsong’s attraction is to the young professional and its message is a false message of prosperity in this life and heaven in the next.

Brian Houston, has also capitulated to the pressure to welcome Roman Catholicism with open arms. As National President of Assemblies of God in Australia, Brian Houston issued a press release which included the following misleading statement about Rome:

We pray too, that this papacy, like those before it, is marked by a commitment to seeing the Christian message continue to go forward and people changed by the power and truth of the Gospel. Obviously, as Protestants, our views are considerably different to the Pope’s on a number of issues however, we share a common desire to exalt Christ and serve our community to the best of our ability. Brian Houston fails to point out that the Gospel of Roman Catholicism is not The Gospel of Jesus Christ. Rome believes in a gospel of works and not the gospel of grace alone, through faith alone, and in Christ alone. This has been Rome’s historic position which resulted in fearful persecution against those who resisted its false message of salvation down through the centuries.

DOCTRINAL ERROR 5: THE CROSS - Numerous doctrinal errors here

Darlene Zschech, then worship pastor at Hills Christian Life Centre in Sydney, together with her Hillsong worship team, performed for the Roman Catholic World Youth Day in Sydney on 18th July 2008. Pope Benedict XVI was present and conducted papal mass on the last day of the extravaganza. Roman Catholic doctrine teaches that the mass is a continuation of Christ’s sacrifice. The consecrated host is alleged to become Christ himself and is therefore worshipped when placed in the monstranceand then in its own little tabernacle. Hillsong, led by Zschech, performed after the Stations of the Cross. The 14 Stations allegedly depict Christ’s trial and crucifixion. Aside from the fact that this is not faith but sight and the pictures of Jesus are fictional and are forbidden by Scripture, several of the Stations are purely legendary. Jesus supposedly fell down three times, met Mary on the way to the cross, had His face wiped by a woman named Veronica, and was taken down from the cross and laid in Mary’s arms. None of this is supported by Scripture. The Pope promised a plenary indulgence to anyone who participated in World Youth Day. This is the forgiveness of the temporal penalty (referring to a penalty owed either on earth or in purgatory) due for certain sins and re-emphasises the works based gospel that Rome teaches. Hillsong’s compromise represents a betrayal of the Faith “once delivered to the saints.” (Jude 1:3-5)

Brian Houston and His False Prosperity Gospel

Brian Houston is the author of “You need more Money: Discovering God’s Amazing Financial Plan for Your Life”. In that book he writes: “Prosperity is definitely a result of applying God’s Word to your life. Why would He promise prosperity and success if He preferred us to remain poor?” In section two of the book he adds: “It’s God’s will for you to prosper”. In the second in a series of messages called “Prosperity on Purpose” he said that if he was writing the book again he would change the title but give the same message. At least this title leaves you in no doubt about the message, and it is unashamedly a message that encourages people to pursue financial prosperity. The distinguishing factor from the world’s pursuit of prosperity is that, according to Brian Houston, pursuing prosperity for God is different and apparently legitimate.

DOCTRINAL ERROR 6: BIBLICAL PROSPERITY IS NOT FOR PERSONAL GAIN but for "reaching every creature with the Gospel" - Peter had given up all to follow Christ - that is the TRUE GOSPEL

28 Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee. 29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s, 30 but he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life. 31 But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.

However, this is not what the Bible teaches. The Lord Jesus tells us that we cannot serve both God and money but that we are to seek first the Kingdom of God, we will be given what we need – Matthew 6:24, 33, and that where our treasure is, there our hearts will be also – Matthew 6:21. The effect of Brian Houston’s teaching is for the believer to expect to prosper financially as a reward of faithfulness, and for them to love this world. The purpose of that prosperity is that God’s Kingdom will advance. This is a half-truth. God does bless His people, but there is to be no expectation of material prosperity. One of the obvious places to see this is in the account of the Rich Man and Lazarus.

Lazarus spent his life as a beggar with nothing, yet he had saving faith and went to heaven where he received his reward (see Luke 16). The Rich Man had everything in this life but used his wealth to indulge himself.

The great heroes of the faith are set out by the writer to the Hebrews in chapter 11 as an example and encouragement to us. A summary of their sufferings is contained in verses 35-38 which includes “being destitute”. (Hebrews 11:35-38)

The mark of Biblical faithfulness is often poverty. John Cook was just such a man. He prosecuted Charles I and rose, under the Commonwealth, to be Chief Justice in Ireland where he brought justice and mercy to many poor tenants who were oppressed by their wealthy landlords. He made many enemies as a result of his just judgments. Just prior to the restoration of the monarchy this faithful Christian was betrayed, imprisoned executed and his lands forfeited. This has been the lot of many Christians. We only have to look at the circumstances of Christians in countries such as Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Iran, Laos and Nigeria to mention but a few where destitution and death is are commonplace for Christians. Poverty may seem a long way off for Christians living in the West but even here Christian faithfulness often comes at the expense of financial prosperity.

According to an article in the Sydney Morning Herald published on 30th January 2003, Brian Houston lives well beyond the means of most church pastors: “He owns an enormous house overlooking a bush valley, in a suburb of other enormous houses, at Glenhaven. He also owns a picturesque spread on the Hawkesbury River, near Windsor, just west of Sydney, gets paid handsomely to speak overseas and is a property developer.”

It might seem churlish to judge a person merely by the size of their house, although one might question the example such exhibition of wealth sets his flock. However there have been many fine Christians through the years with great wealth that they have used for God’s Kingdom. The real problem is that, according to the same article, “the vast majority” of Brian Houston’s money comes from overseas speaking engagements at other charismatic churches as well as royalties from the “Christian resources” set out at the front of the church, accumulating vast wealth from royalties and other dividends. This strongly suggests that Brian Houston has used his position of Christian leadership for huge personal gain. 2 Peter 2:3 specifically warns us about false prophets who will exploit the people of God for their own ends.

Paul instructed Timothy to withdraw from those who teach that gain is godliness, and to “flee these things” – 1 Timothy 6:11 and instead exhorts us to be content with godliness which is truly great gain. It is true that, in his series, “Prosperity on Purpose”, Brian Houston acknowledges the dangers of being rich and that it is possible to be poor and happy (as in the case of the Macedonian church in 2 Corinthians 8:2. However, he does not seem to acknowledge the obvious contradiction of these positions and one may be forgiven for thinking that he only mentions the scriptures that contradict his philosophy that God wants to make his people rich because he has no choice, but not in order to change his overall message which is that God intends His people to prosper financially in this life. The fact is that finding the pearl of great price demands that we give up everything to possess it. (Matthew 13:46)

I would be surprised if Nicky Gumbel bought into the prosperity gospel that Brian Houston promotes but I suspect he may have been dazzled by the apparent success of Hillsong within the Western World. By inviting Brian Houston to speak at Focus 2012 Nicky Gumbel is inviting a false teacher.

Final Warning

It is very sad that Nicky Gumbel has been deceived and, as a result, he continues to deceive others, just as Paul warns , “But evil men and imposters shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived” – 2 Timothy 3:13. It is a profoundly sobering lesson that charming and obviously well-meaning men like Nicky Gumbel should be condemned as evil by introducing false teaching into the church. However there are strong warnings in scripture against changing the terms of the Gospel. Consider Revelation 22:18-19: “If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.”

Nicky Gumbel has allowed teachers into his church who, according to Roman Catholic doctrine, defined the means of salvation as including reliance upon good works (including baptism, confession and the mass), so adding to the word of God. He has also, along with John Stott and others, redefined hell as a place of annihilation and not of eternal conscious torment and so subtracted from the Word of God. I fear very for much for him. At the same time there is a great need to reach today’s youth and HTB and Hillsong are to be commended for their concern for the young, the prisoners, the third world and all the others that they are trying to reach.

The concern with HTB is not the intention of reaching the lost for Christ which is admirable and Godly. Nicky Gumbel’s endeavours to present the message in a contemporary way are commendable provided the message itself remains unchanged. However the reality is that the message that they are bringing is a corrupted gospel which is counterproductive, because without true repentance from our dead works there is no salvation. Let us not forget that the angels in heaven rejoice over one sinner who REPENTS – Luke 15:4-10. Along with repentance comes a realisation that it is only by dying to the Old Nature and putting on Christ that we can live godly lives and this is a daily sacrifice which is why we become strangers and pilgrims in this world looking for a better City to come.

The message to those planning to go to Focus 2012 must be to think again about the direction of their Christian lives and to return to the pure milk of God’s Word by joining fellowship with those who preach the truth and contend earnestly for the faith once delivered to the Saints – Jude 3 and 2 Corinthians 6:14-16 are important verses in this context for they instruct true believers to separate themselves from those who have compromised the faith. We must remember to pray earnestly for Nicky Gumbel, Brian Houston, Raniero Cantalamessa and for the many that have been deceived by their false messages.

Finally we should pray for each other that, in making our stand, we neither overlook a beam in our own eye, or fall just when we thought we were standing.

1) IF JESUS IS THE "ALPHA AND THE OMEGA" - then who is the "ALPHA"? ANSWER A PERSON!

2) IF KING JAMES VI & I IS RIGHT AND THE PAPAL OFFICE IS THE ANTICHRIST - then what has come from within this gate has taken out Evangelical and Pentecostal movements to the Alexandrian line all over the world, not giving heed to the sacrifice of the martyrs of the Reformed Faith?

3) As an Anglican operation then Alpha has bowed to Rome rather than uphold "The Protestant Reformed Religion Established by Law" - rebellious, unconstitutional and opposing the Monarch's promise on oath.

Roman Catholicism since the beginning of the Reformation has been determined to close down the “Justification by Faith”/ Sola Scriptura influence of Protestantism.

Indeed it is determined to maintain its heavy shepherding position over its laity.

Thus the Charismatic Movement enjoys a similar position with Pastors enjoying their authority over members in the practice of continuous deliverance that is akin to the weekly visit to the Confession Box.

To bring people into the trap of Roman Catholicism whether in a known Roman Church or one of the many apparently thriving Charismatic outfits a course has been devised called Alpha.

Alpha is full of Alexandrian Gnostic Theology combining philosophy, paganism and a Egyptian form of “Christianity” that downgrades Jesus to being subordinate to Jehovah God, a form of blasphemy that formed heresies like that of Arius who provided the theology for Russell to form Jehovah’s Witnesses.

The Bible warns of “false Christs” in the last days. This certainly is one!

Nicky Gumbel, its self-confessed leader, a fine motivational speaker portraying a very different Gospel to that of orthodoxy, a Gospel entrenched in Gnostic ideology that clearly has Egyptian roots. First of all the course embraces the “Bibles” that downgrade Christ’s deity as we have shown at the beginning of On Fire. Codices Vaticanus, Sinaiticus and Alexandrinus all embrace the heresy of a non-equal Godhead and of course this relates into the practice of a non-equal body on Earth, hence our teaching of positional truth to counteract this.

Nicky Gumbel said this about his Jesus, a very different Jesus to the Jesus of the true Bible.

So there is evidence outside the New Testament for the existence of Jesus. Furthermore, the evidence in the New Testament is very strong. Sometimes people say, “The New Testament was written a long time ago. How do we know that what they wrote down has not been changed over the years?” The answer is that we do know, very accurately through the science of textual criticism, what the New Testament writers wrote. Essentially the more texts we have, the less doubt there is about the original.

We now learn from Gumbel that the science of understanding scripture no longer comes through revelation as in Apostle Peter and Paul’s day but through textual critics.

The textual critics so embraced by Gumbel and Alpha admit themselves changing the texts, Gumbel’s texts being of Roman Catholic Alexandrian codices that portray a very different Jesus to that of the true Bible.

This very different Jesus of the ever changing textual critics (Nestle Aland) seems to play a very important role in the infamous Alpha weekend away of which Nicky Gumbel states:

Others, often the younger guests, coming from the New Age movement find that rational and historical explanations leave them cold, but at the weekend away they are on more familiar territory in experiencing the spirit.

We now learn, therefore that in Alpha pagan new agers are in familiar territory with Alpha’s spirit. This most certainly is not the Holy Spirit of conviction, of burning and of fire. This is not the Holy Spirit that convicts sinners for Alpha’s Jesus is not begotten of the father and goes nowhere near the true Biblical teaching of the newly born again believer becoming begotten of the Godhead.

Alpha’s NIV has no mention of being begotten because its Jesus does not want his believers knowing anything about positional truth for Satan and his cohorts want their believers under their control.

The true liberty in Christ comes with an abandonment of the old life, Alpha’s Jesus allows you to carry it on! In his book Falling Short Chris Hand points out the weakness of Alpha’s sorry for things done wrong preferring the old fashioned repentance and turning away from the old life.

In reply to Alpha’s model prayer to become a Christian, the key difference is that the “sinners prayer” that was said in past days was a conviction of the heart, a crying out to God and a turning away from the things of this world as precious souls began on the road to entire sanctification. This crying out dealt with inbred sin for this Word was given by the blood convicting Preacher of the Word of God, the blood being missing from Alpha’s NIV led mish mash of Gnostic belief.

Chris Hand points out that there is no evidence to show that model prayers were used by the Early Church and I cannot recall their use in my 1950’s Mission Hall. What I do remember was changed lives and constant testimony of this, the preaching of God’s Word being vital in this process. Alpha has made redundant blood convicting preachers and replaced these deliverers of God’s message with a “Gospel” that sits comfortably with the sin of sinners.

Instead of the exclusivity of Jesus, we now have Alpha’s “common accepting faith” being referred to by the NIV as our common faith meaning there is more than one way to God.

Thank God that there is a remnant prepared to preach “the common faith” that convicts of sin and brings sinners to the knees of Jesus in a genuine act of repentance, Peter’s hearers being cut to the heart.

Chris Hand: When they were told to repent they knew what this meant because they were already … ‘cut (pricked) to the heart’ because the Spirit of God was working in them. Peter could assure his listeners that they would be forgiven and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit if they truly turned to the Lord. They did not have to use a form of words. Whereas, with ‘Alpha’, assurance is given us because we have prayed a prayer. This is false assurance.

Instead of moving by the blood bought word Gumbel simply asks the followers to say “sorry” for their sin and ask Jesus into their lives.

Whilst there is emphasis on the “Holy Spirit”, the convicting power of the Spirit is not seen within this course, so therefore, the actual “salvations” have to be in doubt. We need an immediate return to the PREACHING OF GOD’S WORD THROUGH THE “ANOINTED CONVICTING PREACHED WORD” FROM THE BLOOD STAINED PAGES OF THE AUTHORISED VERSION.

No wonder so many Pastors are going astray when all you have to do is say “sorry” each time and all will be alright. This is completely unbiblical as the Minister of the Word of God has to die to the powers of the flesh and move into the blood stained garments of Jesus Christ; Eph. 6.

When the Preacher of the Blood Stained Word does appear, the Alpha converts rise up in anger because they have been “amusingly brought into the Kingdom” by pleasantries and jokes and do not like to be convicted of their sin because they have already “let Jesus into their heart”.

It simply does not work this way and so the combination of allegorical Gnostic theology, Satanic “Bibles” and being brought into the Kingdom through Alpha with “allowing the spirit” means that all we have today in Pentecostal-Evangelical churches is a playground of evil spirits rather than the old time convicting power of the Holy Ghost.

John Bunyan’s insight into Vanity Fair absolutely applies to these “playground churches” today. Instead of allowing the convicting power of the Spirit Gumbel uses today’s “nicey nicey” techniques of not wanting to hurt anyone’s feelings. This approach almost eliminates the Gospel from the Course even though he does mention sin over thirty times in Talk 3.

He mentions sin, however, without mentioning Adam and being born in sin. The “pray a prayer” technique is used without the concept of being saved from hell being explained and the power of the blood of Jesus.

Not surprising as the NIV leaves out the blood!

How can anyone be saved in such an atmosphere without the conviction of the Holy Ghost? I remember the atmosphere at Gospel Meetings of the 1950’s in Liverpool when souls came out convicted of sin and their lives were changed. Where is the evidence of that phenomenon today?

There may be evidence of saying a prayer with Gumbel’s technique but there is no evidence of mass revival, and certainly no evidence of “dying to self” and “leaving the World” in these NIV Alpha “churches”.

This is because the exclusivity of Christ Jesus as being the only way to the Father and a withdrawal from the life of Baal is not emphasized. Instead the NIV and its related theological approaches are the Gnostic methods of Alexandria. Gnosticism mixes cultures, which means that in Alpha great care is taken not to upset anybody. Preachers of the “old school” are regarded as “too heavy” and are alienated from the “Churches” stolen by the devil for his Alexandrian Social Gospel.

THIS TRULY IS THE WORK OF THE ANTICHRIST MANIFESTING TODAY AS ALPHA, THE CORRUPT ANTI-WORD SENDING MILLIONS OF SO CALLED ALPHA CHRISTIANS TO ETERNAL HELL-FIRE!

There is no explanation in the Alpha course that good works do not save knowing that part of Alpha’s audience believe that christenings, infant baptisms and confessions to a Priest also bring “salvation” and so being “born again” is not the only path of salvation in Alpha. Indeed as we have found by personal witness, this has also been preached from the HTB Platform.

Lutheran theology of “faith alone” is missing and so thousands of Roman Catholics have embraced the course and in true Gnostic style have managed to combine Roman Catholic Alexandrian theology with the concept of saying a “sinners prayer”, “receiving the spirit” and “speaking in tongues”.

All this goes on whilst still praying rosary prayers to Mary, confessing to a Priest (why is this necessary when you have said the sinners prayer?) and practising the seven Roman sacraments. Gnosticism is alive today and is well activated in NIV Alpha Course “churches”!!!!!! Where is the teaching of the once for all sacrifice? “Once for all” does not fit into Catholic theology for each time they eat the bread they are eating the literal body of Christ! “Once for all” and “the sinners prayer”, therefore do not come together in Alpha and so a numbers of ways for salvation is advocated.

Gumbel has admitted that he has carefully scripted the course to enable the course to be used by Catholics and so teaching on communion and baptism is left out, and so the “new converts” are converted into a new multi faith style Christianity that goes about not upsetting people. Very different to the life of Jesus! This is why our ministry refuses to be part of this “new wave” move with its “bringing together” organizations like FGBMFI, Churches Together and the Evangelical Alliance.

It is a very lonely path at this time as Jesus end time prophecy of the elect being deceived manifests.

Indeed threatenings come to those refusing this new accommodation Gospel, it taking over the past once great Evangelical and Pentecostal movements.

The evidence of Jesus ministry is that this emphasized division from the World rather than adapting the “Gospel” to please it.

Despite majoring on the Holy Spirit, the conviction of the Spirit is never mentioned in Alpha. Repentance is just mentioned but not as a major issue as in Jesus ministry and the ministry of my mission hall days. I wonder if there are any real “born again” Christians left as the major part of Evangelical Pentecostal movements has been stolen away. Ask yourself – where are the changed lives? Where are the testimonies of withdrawal from the World?

Gone – because this Alpha course allows you to say a prayer, “receive the spirit” and continue your life in the world because the student has not come under the Holy Ghost’s conviction power, and on top of all of this the student is recommended to use a Gnostic Bible!

To conclude let us go back to the textual critics Gumbel declares never change despite of their own admission that they constantly change their Bibles which Gumbel embraces.

Essentially the more texts we have, the less doubt there is about the original.

Perhaps the two most famous of these critics are Westcott and Hort who from Vaticanus, Sinaiticus, and Alexandrinus produced the Revised Version of 1881 from whence has come the NIV and all new translations monitored by Nestle Aland, the Bible Societies and the Vatican. The following is primary evidence – straight from the horse’s mouth so to speak.

Perhaps the most famous textual critics embraced by Alpha’s Gumbel:

Westcott & Hort :PRIMARY EVIDENCE OF THEIR APPROACH

1) Huge in Psychical Circles: Hort along with his partner Westcott as well as producing a new “Original Greek” were founders of the Cambridge Ghost Society in 1851 according to Alan Gauld in The Founders of Psychical Research.

"In 1851 was founded at Cambridge a Society to 'conduct a serious and earnest inquiry into the nature of the phenomena vaguely called supernatural,' and a number of distinguished persons became members." [Alan Gauld, The Founders of Psychical Research, NY: Schocken Books, 1968, p. 66]

In the Life of Edward White Benson, Archbishop of Canterbury, by his son, A. C. Benson, will be found, under the year 1851-2, the following paragraph:

'Among my father's diversions at Cambridge was the foundation of a 'Ghost Society,' the forerunner of the Psychical Society [meaning the S.P.R.] for the investigation of the supernatural. Lightfoot, Westcott and Hort were among the members. He was then, as always, more interested in psychical phenomena than he cared to admit.'

In 1853 Westcott and Hort, now Anglican Bishops and active spiritualists began their work to produce a corrupted Greek “original text from evil manuscripts like Vaticanus and Sinaiticus to be taken up later by Dr. Eberhard Nestle who followed on from the efforts of Westcott and Hort in 1898. In 1950 Kurt Aland assumed ownership of this “original Greek” and it is this follow on from Westcott and Hort that is now seen as the base document of all new translations, it having derived through the Alexandrian methods of Clement. It is these manuscripts that Alpha bases it corrupted course on, corrupted because its “Biblical” base is experiential first, and Gnostic “original Greek” second. Is it any co-incidence that Gumbel is an Anglican Clergyman just as Hort was? It seems that the corruption goes on and on!

2) The Psychic Hort recognized acceptance problems of the new “original Greek”! It would seem that the acceptance of Alpha and textual criticism has seemed to be a way to overcome this problem.

I mean, a text, issued by men already known for what will undoubtedly be treated as dangerous heresy, will have great difficulties in finding its way to regions which it might otherwise hope to reach, and whence it would not be easily banished by subsequent alarms."

1862 Apr. 30th, May 1st - Hort: "It seems to be clearly and broadly directed to maintaining that the English clergy are not compelled to maintain the absolute infallibility of the Bible. And, whatever the truth may be, this seems just the liberty required at the present moment, if any living belief is to survive in the land." (Life, Vol.I, p.454). 4) Moving away from the fanaticism of Holy Ghost Blood Revealing Preachers, Gumbel has presented a course user friendly to Roman Catholicism following on from his hero Hort ….. 1848 July 6th - Hort:

"One of the things, I think, which shows the falsity of the Evangelical notion of this subject (baptism), is that it is so trim and precise...no deep spiritual truths of the Reason are thus logically harmonious and systematic...the pure Romish view seems to me nearer, and more likely to lead to, the truth than the Evangelical...the fanaticism of the bibliolaters, among whom reading so many 'chapters' seems exactly to correspond to the Romish superstition of telling so many dozen beads on a rosary...still we dare not forsake the Sacraments, or God will forsake us...I am inclined to think that no such state as 'Eden' (I mean the popular notion) ever existed, and that Adam's fall in no degree differed from the fall of each of his descendants" (Life, Vol.I, pp.76-78). Oct. 17th - Hort: "I have been persuaded for many years that Mary-worship and 'Jesus'-worship have very much in common in their causes and their results." (Life, Vol.II, p.50). 5) No Dealing with Adam’s sin with Alpha, perhaps because Gumbel’s hero Hort was pro-Darwin …. 1860 Apr. 3rd - Hort: "But the book which has most engaged me is Darwin. Alpha seems to develop this further by relating the Cross, according to Pastor Chris Hand to being a “visual aid” to prove conclusively that God is self-sacrificial and loving. Chris Hand goes onto say, “Christ’s work on the Cross is demoted to being a rescue act to save us from our problems rather than fulfilling the righteous demands of the holy law and appeasing the wrath of God.Chris Hand.
