We as a Christian Ministry lost our vehicle which we need for outside video recordings about a year ago - a saga that began with a breakdown at Bladnoch with an AA appointed garage taking the car to Halfords in Newton Stewart.

Our complaint letter explains all of the actions of Halfords employees which they tell us are now ex-employees! It seems Halfords believe as the employees did not put the job on their computer system - that it is not their responsibility. We say it is!

We believe we have been lied to and done, but still offer forgiveness for "all have sinned" and we offer in the video forgiveness for those who have lied to us, at the same time thank the Lord for justice that is rightfully ours in his name!

Re. Complaint Against Halfords McConechys Newton Stewart Autocentre, Holmpark Industrial Estate, B7079, Minnigaff, Newton Stewart DG8 6AW

 

Repairing of WD15 XLM that was in excellent condition valued today at “Goodbye Car UK” at £3,466 – now having been in your “Autocentre” value – scrap only

 

Having dealt with your company for some years in relation to car servicing and repairing, this is the first time we have been led to complain to you, we believing that what we have witnessed is very serious indeed.

 

Log of Events:

 

1.  In November 2021 this vehicle was taken to your centre by AA Breakdown having broken down at Bladnoch, Wigtownshire.

2. It stayed here for months, the conclusion being that repairs would include a new engine, a shock in relation to the mileage of the old one. Backing off from the cost of a new engine, your mechanic gave me a link to EBAY from where an engine was purchased for £696-10.

3. Your mechanic assured me it would work and to have the engine delivered to your autocentre. This we did and after much time was assured that the engine had worked. Note: we received assurance of the compatibility of the purchased engine and that it would work – else we would not have bought it.

4. However, it would seem your auto-electrician could not get it going, the electronics of the car reverting to its original settings default of the original engine. A specialist in electrics was brought in from Dumfries we were told, alongside the story of the local shortage of such people was given.

5. In the end your autocentre gave up telling me it needed a specialist auto-electrician, it being amazing to us that your large company would not have access to one.

6. We went along with it and got the car transferred to Autosparks, 2 Fountain Way, Blackparks Industrial Estate, Stranraer DG9 7UD who were amazed it would seem that such an engine would be fitted without taking account of modern electronic knowledge. From reaction, it certainly seemed to us that an autocentre would give the advice we were given.

 

Their report is enclosed, a report costing £172-80 – look at their comment – WRONG TYPE OF ENGINE FITTED – WRONG HIGH PRESSURE FUEL SYSTEM – ALL THIS AT YOUR RECOMMENDATION!

 

To be blunt, we were given wrong advice by your staff and are seeking compensation because we would never have purchased such an engine unless a mechanic had told us too!

 

We have taken legal advice which seems confident that we have a good case here. It is my view that not only should we receive the value of the car but also for the inconvenience of not having a car for nearly a year, your staff sitting on the car for some months of inaction, and when there was action giving seriously wrong advice that includes the purchase of an incompatible engine which in our view we should be compensated for.

 

We want to give you every opportunity in what to us is a peculiar situation before taking any legal action, and so we would welcome a response before the end of this month.
