“This is what the restoration of the Bible College of Wales is all about: to bring the understanding, to bring the reality, that those who are born again, washed by the blood of Jesus, is indeed the very body of the one Christ upon this earth.
“Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.”

“The old holiness mission hall used to preach this. There was a deep conviction when a man or woman was going to be born again, for the coming to the cross was a coming to be crucified with Christ, a coming to live, yes, yet the old satanic nature was to go.
The ‘I’ was no longer to live. There was a death going to take place at the cross, the ‘old cross’ as A W Tozer, Norman’s friend, used to call it. It was not just saying words, as is commonly the case today.
The Old Cross and the New
ALL UNANNOUNCED AND MOSTLY UNDETECTED there has come in modern times a new cross into popular evangelical circles. It is like the old cross, but different: the likenesses are superficial; the differences, fundamental.
From this new cross has sprung a new philosophy of the Christian life, and from that new philosophy has come a new evangelical technique-a new type of meeting and a new kind of preaching. This new evangelism employs the same language as the old, but its content is not the same and its emphasis not as before.
The old cross would have no truck with the world. For Adam's proud flesh it meant the end of the journey. It carried into effect the sentence imposed by the law of Sinai.
The new cross is not opposed to the human race; rather, it is a friendly pal and, if understood aright, it is the source of oceans of good clean fun and innocent enjoyment. It lets Adam live without interference. His life motivation is unchanged; he still lives for his own pleasure, only now he takes delight in singing choruses and watching religious movies instead of singing bawdy songs and drinking hard liquor.
The accent is still on enjoyment, though the fun is now on a higher plane morally if not intellectually.
The new cross encourages a new and entirely different evangelistic approach. The evangelist does not demand abnegation of the old life before a new life can be received. He preaches not contrasts but similarities. He seeks to key into public interest by showing that Christianity makes no unpleasant demands; rather, it offers the same thing the world does, only on a higher level. Whatever the sin-mad world happens to be clamoring after at the moment is cleverly shown to be the very thing the gospel offers, only the religious product is better.
The new cross does not slay the sinner, it redirects him. It gears him into a cleaner and jollier way of living and saves his self-respect. To the self-assertive it says, "Come and assert yourself for Christ." To the egotist it says, "Come and do your boasting in the Lord." To the thrill seeker it says, "Come and enjoy the thrill of Christian fellowship." The Christian message is slanted in the direction of the current vogue in order to make it acceptable to the public.
The philosophy back of this kind of thing may be sincere but its sincerity does not save it from being false. It is false because it is blind. It misses completely the whole meaning of the cross.
The old cross is a symbol of death. It stands for the abrupt, violent end of a human being. The man in Roman times who took up his cross and started down the road had already said good-by to his friends. He was not coming back. He was going out to have it ended. The cross made no compromise, modified nothing, spared nothing; it slew all of the man, completely and for good. It did not try to keep on good terms with its victim. It struck cruel and hard, and when it had finished its work, the man was no more.
The race of Adam is under death sentence. There is no commutation and no escape. God cannot approve any of the fruits of sin, however innocent they may appear or beautiful to the eyes of men. God salvages the individual by liquidating him and then raising him again to newness of life.
That evangelism which draws friendly parallels between the ways of God and the ways of men is false to the Bible and cruel to the souls of its hearers. The faith of Christ does not parallel the world, it intersects it. In coming to Christ we do not bring our old life up onto a higher plane; we leave it at the cross. The corn of wheat must fall into the ground and die.
We who preach the gospel must not think of ourselves as public relations agents sent to establish good will between Christ and the world. We must not imagine ourselves commissioned to make Christ acceptable to big business, the press, the world of sports or modern education. We are not diplomats but prophets, and our message is not a compromise but an ultimatum.
God offers life, but not an improved old life. The life He offers is life out of death. It stands always on the far side of the cross. Whoever would possess it must pass under the rod. He must repudiate himself and concur in God's just sentence against him.
What does this mean to the individual, the condemned man who would find life in Christ Jesus? How can this theology be translated into life? Simply, he must repent and believe. He must forsake his sins and then go on to forsake himself. Let him cover nothing, defend nothing, excuse nothing. Let him not seek to make terms with God, but let him bow his head before the stroke of God's stern displeasure and acknowledge himself worthy to die.
Having done this let him gaze with simple trust upon the risen Saviour, and from Him will come life and rebirth and cleansing and power. The cross that ended the earthly life of Jesus now puts an end to the sinner; and the power that raised Christ from the dead now raises him to a new life along with Christ.
To any who may object to this or count it merely a narrow and private view of truth, let me say God has set His hallmark of approval upon this message from Paul's day to the present. Whether stated in these exact words or not, this has been the content of all preaching that has brought life and power to the world through the centuries. The mystics, the reformers, the revivalists have put their emphasis here, and signs and wonders and mighty operations of the Holy Ghost gave witness to God's approval.
Dare we, the heirs of such a legacy of power, tamper with the truth? Dare we with our stubby pencils erase the lines of the blueprint or alter the pattern shown us in the Mount? May God forbid. Let us preach the old cross and we will know the old power. (A. W. Tozer, Man, the Dwelling Place of God, 1966)
Revival, as contrasted with a Holy Ghost atmosphere is a clean- cut breakthrough of the Spirit, a sweep of Holy Ghost power, bending the hearts of hardened sinners as the wheat before the wind, breaking up the fountains of the great deep, sweeping the whole range of the emotions, as the master hand moves across the harp strings, from the tears and cries of the penitent to the holy laughter and triumphant joy of the cleansed.

There was a deep sense that the ‘I’ that was once Satan, was being removed by the blood of the precious Saviour. ‘I live, yet not I’ declared Paul to the Galatians. The old chorus that used to be sung declared, ‘I no longer liveth, but Christ that liveth in me’; & the Christ that came to live in believers after this personal cross experience, came the over-whelming ruler of this body, the body that was once Satan’s had now become Christ’s.
“So, Norman declared by the spirit, in this final intercession before passing away into the glory of heaven, that there had to come upon this earth, a full realisation of what being born again was all about.
It not only involved the crucifixion of 2,000 years ago, it also involves the crucifixion of today. ‘I am crucified with Christ, I live yet not I’, the present tense of our crucifixion experience daily, to walk in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. But the final intercession went deeper even than this reality, for on this earth this body is to walk, as Christ Jesus; the branches to the vine. But the branches are not the inferior part to the tree, for these are the branches that bear fruit, as the Christ upon this earth, as Jesus prayed in John 17:21

“For the old self at the cross, has become one in Christ, has become married to Him, as Ephesians 5 & Jeremiah 3:14 develops, that the walking Satan has become the walking Christ. ‘There never was an independent me’, declared Grubb. ‘Formerly walking Satans, now by grace walking Christs’, having the very same divine nature of Christ, living as Him, no longer as satans, so that the world may know the Saviour who revealed to Rees Howells that “every creature” was to be reached with the gospel. Not one was to be missed out. For the realisation of being as Him, the walking Christ, the branch connected to the vine, was the final intercession of Grubb, the ability to reach every creature being the understanding of this; & our fundamental blockage in Great Britain is the one of the feeling of independence, & that God will bless me as I ask Him from my selfish nature; but that selfish nature needs to come to the cross. The lusts of the flesh need to depart.

There is yet to be a personal crucifixion experience, that the coming of Jesus into our hearts means a complete takeover. For those joined to the Lord are one spirit; being one spirit means the complete takeover of all that one has; & as a ministry in Great Britain, we continually speak to those who call themselves Christian, yet have kept the old self.
They do not give to mission. They give seed faith offerings to gain selfish lusts. 01 10 17 ISAAC WATTS INTERCESSION
Beside the tomb of Isaac Watts - Non-Conformist hymn-writer in Bunhill Fields, stands Brian Mason through whom intercession takes place.
The hymn-writer whose works were even included in a Dickens novel left a non-conformist legacy so great, that intercession takes place for his hymns to be sung again - away from the modern decadence to the all-out surrender to the Lord depicted by Watts.

“The heritage of Norman Grubb’s ministry rings through thy ministry. It comes up time after time again, & those of the separate identity ‘Christianity’ go absolutely crazy at the thought of this, that before coming to the cross, we were all formerly walking Satans, abound with sin, iniquity, distress, & despair. For we were walking as Satan on this earth, all having sinned & come short of the glory of God.
To whom the letter was sent – the dad of David P Griffiths, WEC Missionary in Guinea Bissau & Cape Verde in the 1930’s and Mission Hall Pastor in Liverpool during the 1940’s.
Restoration Intercession in relation to this heritage at Liverpool and Keswick where William Griffiths responded to the missions call, going first to be with Rees Howells at Swansea, then to the African Mission Field with WEC, thus the Norman Grubb working relationship.
06 09 17 WILLIAM GRIFFITHS KESWICK INTERCESSION -
near Netherfield Road, Liverpool
In the early 1930's William Griffiths cycled from here to Keswick for the Convention and responded to the full surrender missions call. From Keswick to the Bible College of Wales for training, learning fluent Portuguese, and from here to Cape Verde and onto Guinea Bissau (then Portuguese Guinea). With Clifford Gay and Bessie Fricker he worked as a WEC Missionary.
This intercession is a cry from the heart through Brian Mason for more with the heart of William Griffiths, to give their wholes lives to Christ Jesus and his will, moving in faith even standing in the queue for a ticket at Lime Street Station so as to go to Swansea, He had no money to buy the ticket but the Lord provided. What faith, supernatural faith!
06 09 17 KESWICK CONVENTION INTERCESSION
and WILLIAM GRIFFITHS
For over 140 years evangelical Christians have gathered in this Lake District town since 1875 when a tent meeting took place on the lawn of St John's Church, Vicarage. The Convention was founded by Canon TD Harford-Battersby and Quaker Robert Wilson, the first conference lasting four days with 400 people attending under the banner "all One in Christ Jesus"!
In the early 1930's William Griffiths attended the Convention having cycled from Netherfield Road, Liverpool, He had surrendered his heart to Christ Jesus, responding to the legendary missions call, then going onto the Bible College of Wales and becoming a WEC missionary to Cape Verde and Guinea Bissau.
Today those holding the original vision of the Bible College of Wales are now banned from exhibiting at the Convention, let alone providing speakers. It will be a joy to see this Convention back into the hands of those holding the mantle of the founders who had a heart to see the original vision.
“‘There never was an independent me’, declared Grubb. ‘We were formerly a walking Satan’, declared Grubb; but by coming to the cross, we came to the place where the clothes of Satan were replaced by the blood-stained clothes of Christ. ‘There’s power in the blood’, declared the old hymn, that continues to ask the question, ‘Would you be whiter, much whiter than snow? There’s power in the blood.’
“For this to happen, there can only be one conclusion: that we are not our own; we were bought with a price. Because how can an independent me be a partaker of Jesus’ divine nature? How can an independent me be married to Him, making a nonsense of the sinner saved by grace heresy. For to be joined as one spirit, the independent me cannot exist.
